Matty Castano was born in the Philippines, spent his childhood in Guam and Honolulu, Hawaii. He spent most of his life traveling from one place to the next, never really finding a true home. There is one exception, however, and that is the movies. No matter where his life took him, his love for movies has always been a constant for him.Being that the filmmaking resources in paradise were slim, he deduced that the only way he was able to get to Los Angeles was to begin an acting career. Since he didn't know anyone in L.A., Matty began to do local theater and found much success at it. It led him to move to New York with just $700 in his bank account and a huge dream.With the goal of Hollywood in his mind, he strategically took jobs that would eventually lead him there. Matty traveled the world and worked in many places: China, New York, Bermuda,Pennsylvania, the Bahamas, and finally Los Angeles. When he landed there, he kissed the ground, signed a lease, and began the quest.In the beginning of his career, he felt his background and ethnicity was a burden. He rarely ever saw anyone that looked like him when he looked up on the silver screen or at the smaller screen at home. Matty aspires to be the person that some kid in the middle of the pacific, as they navigate the ocean to their dreams of becoming a successful filmmaker, will see when they search for themselves. Hide
