I am 70 years old and I have to admit, I really, really liked this movie! First off, I admire and respect the way so many news personalities portrayed themselves! They made the whole broadcast experience so much more believable. Secondly, I appreciated the way scientific facts were presented. It was done in a way that the audience could fully understand/comprehend. More than anything, I loved the way that the alien/S.E.T.I. perspective was first introduced and then built upon. Finally, I was absolutely appalled by the military/government mindset of "destroy first ask questions later". I was so sad when the decision was made to shoot down the asteroids, even though it was obvious they were on a guided trajectory to earth.
Did we deserve complete annihilation after that? That's up to each of us to decide.
