John Sanders is a Californian born actor known for his work on television and stage. His television credits include guest starring roles on Elementary, Billions, The Following, Iron Fist and Last Man Standing. He has starred on Broadway as Mr. Wormwood in Matilda the Musical, and was in the original Broadway companies of both Matilda and Peter and the Starcatcher. John began his professional career in the storefront theatre scene of Chicago, earning two Jeff Award nominations for his performances at Stage Left and Chicago Dramatists. He was the director of new play development at Stage Left, and went on to perform with the city's larger companies such as Chicago Shakespeare, Goodman, Writers' and Drury Lane Oakbrook. In 2012, he was cast in the Broadway premiere of Peter and the Starcatcher, which went on to win 5 Tony Awards. Upon arriving in New York, he was immediately cast in the Broadway premiere of Matilda the Musical, which opened in 2013. He departed Matilda in late 2013 to lead the first national tour of Peter and the Starcatcher as the pirate villain Black Stache. On returning to New York, John guest starred on Elementary, The Following, Billions and Iron Fist, and appeared in the off-Broadway hit revival of Cloud Nine at The Atlantic. He then returned to star in Broadway's Matilda as Mr. Wormwood. John is the voice of multiple commercial campaigns including Mucinex, and can be heard on video games Minecraft and Batman. Hide
